Conference Objective: to inform citizens and politicians of existing, leading edge viable technologies to be considered as viable electricity supply for Jersey for the long term (next +50 years)
Topics and Speakers (to be finalised)
Presentations on relevant to Jersey, specific energy sources for electricity generation will include:
a) Long-term renewal of our electricity supply from France.
b) Offshore Wind Farms,
c) Tidal Systems,
d) Small Modular Nuclear Reactors,
e) Petroleum-based systems (Natural Gas Liquids or Oil),
f) Solar Panels for generating electricity,
g) Surface water heat exchangers
h) Energy options for homes and buildings to offset grid electricity needs (Solar panels on roof, home floor heating, etc) Simon Humphries to speak

Suggest 45 minutes for each presentation plus questions. This could be extended to 60 minutes and change the agenda to be 2 full days
Each energy source option speaker will be asked to cover and include:
- Their specific electricity generation technology and capacity
- The timetable of when their system will be available to be installed in Jersey plus ongoing upgrades over a + 50-year period

- The forecast cost to build and operate referring to the Lazard – Levelized cost of Energy paper and including
- commissioning
- decommissioning
- Running costs
- -The ultimate cost to residents (price per unit of electricity) and companies in Jersey
- Domestic Tariff as at 20 02 2025 Price per unit 21.66p Service Charge single phase per day 23.62p
- Is the lowest cost as possible for energy a priority ?
- Other potential Jersey benefits (employment, technical excellence local development, surplus electricity supply etc)
- Risk considerations, including any environmental concerns
- Energy Sovereignty
- New or changes to legislation
- Reliability
- If the wind don’t blow or the Sun shine
- Redundancy options –
- Failure of a single source for energy
- Time to live
- Spin off benefits -Could Jersey become a world centre of excellence and a location of an academy for energy options for small nations,
- Other considerations.
